You know the saying, "always be prepared." Well, my friends, I am the QUEEN of prepared.
I'm currently sitting in the airport waiting for my flight to take off with all of these goodies in my carry-on bag. I always like to keep a stash of things that I DEFINITELY know I will need and some things just in case. It is always nice to pack enough that you are prepared, but I used to pack so much that I would be dragging my bag across the airport. And so, luckily for you, I have sacrificed the well-being of my back muscles to bring to you what I believe are the essentials for you carry on!
Here's a list of the goods!
Wallet with important documents:
That you guys includes your ID, credit cards, cash, and (if you are a student) a student ID! I cannot tell you how many times I have gotten a discount because I brought my student ID with me. Museums, public transportation, it all works! Also, even if you use your phone to hold your boarding pass, I recommend keep a paper copy, in case your phone dies or whatever.
Normally, I would prefer to read the paper copy on planes. However, I have learned through NUMEROUS instances of trial and error that the lighter you are carrying when you travel, the better. That is why my Kindle is a lifesaver. Plus, if I finish reading everything, I can play some Tetris (and who doesn't love tetris?)
Notebook and Pen
You never know when inspiration will STRIKE. I always keep a notebook and a pen around for making lists, writing out important ideas, and DOODLING. Drawing on the plane is the best way to pass the time. I love it.
Have you ever gotten to the airport, go to take off of your shoes and realize you aren't wearing socks? Yeah me too. That's why I always bring a pair of socks when I travel. Also, I have poor circulation in my feet and socks help me to relax.
Phone Charger and Headphones
Essential. I don't feel like I have to say a whole lot about these. Although, you guys, I JUST got this 6 ft long charger and it is AMAZING. It is ideal for stretching so you can actually sit down when you charge your phone. Plus I swear it takes less time to charge your phone using one of these. Also, I bring a battery pack just in case I need to charge my phone on the plane. Luckily, most planes have chargers but it never hurts to be prepared!
Many times, the plane dries me out, especially my eyes. I wear contacts, so having a small bottle of contact lens solution and my glasses is a lifesaver. I can sleep on the plane without my eyelids sticking together.
Facial Moisturizer + Chapstick
Speaking of drying out, you don't want your face to be all peel-y and dry-y when you get out of the plane. I love this facial moisturizer from Osea. They use al natural ingredients and make my skin feel amazing. I just quickly run into the bathroom, throw some on, and I INSTANTLY look better. I also love Burt's Bees Lip Balm for my lips, but that is something I carry ALL the time.
I know that plane headrests are not the best thing to be placing your hair on. That's why I always have extra hairties in my bar. That way, if my hair looks not so great, I can just throw it up and BAM! Instant model. True story.
I hate when my ears pop on the plane, so I ALWAYS bring a pack of gum. I generally like fruiter gum on planes and I am obsessed with this Swedish Fish gum. SO SO good.
I am the self professed QUEEN of snacks among my family and friends. A lot of the airport snacks can be really full of salt and sugar. The plane already makes me feel disgusting so I try and bring as healthy snacks as possible. Also, try and bring things that aren't liquid so you don't have to chuck them when you get through security (true story). Things I am loving right now: these dried black edamame from Seapoint Farms, chocolate coconut RX Bars, carrot sticks, almonds, and OMG THE CHOCOLATE CHERRY SQUARE BARS. Guys these are the bomb.com. Such a good flavor combo. Because everything should be chocolate cherry flavored. If you want to try them yourself, use the code thecuttingveg for a 20% discount! Plus I like to keep around these dark chocolate covered cacao nibs from Trader Joe's for a sweet treat.
There you go! Now go jet set!
