I am not exaggerating when I say that eggs helped me survive college. And surprisingly, I didn't even like eggs when I got to college. I really didn't like any breakfast food (except for my dad's buckwheat pancakes). In middle school, breakfast was any leftover I could convince my mom to let me have. In high school, I graduated to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and the occasional key lime pie yogurt. At the diner, it was always a salad, even at 9 AM. It was just something about the combination of taste of the yolk and texture of any type of egg that freaked me out. I was convinced I would never go near the things. Thankfully, for my tastebuds especially, things are not permanent.

Never wish you could eat one thing forever. It might ultimately crush you. Way way back in the day (circa January 2013) I used to eat chicken. I was never a big beef eater and now I am a mostly vegetarian pescatarian that dabbles in vegan (you got that?). But way way back, I used to be big on chicken. When I went to Israel for 10 days, the tour guide told us that, while pizza and burgers were present, if we wanted to have the true Israeli experience, we had to eat at the falafel and schwarma sandwiches. Of course, as always, I wanted the full experience. So when the bus stopped for lunch, I ran past the other kids and headed straight for the dive stall on the corner. I knew exactly what I wanted: a chicken schwarma sandwich in a laffah covered in tahini sauce and israeli salad, and stuffed with as many pickles as the sandwich would hold. When I took my first bite, I was shocked at the flavor the spices gave the chicken. I instantly knew I had to have one again. And I ended up eating this sandwich for a solid 8 days. Things didn't end so well for me on day 9.
The best pizza is not from New York. I hope I don't get chased out of town I went to college in the city. Every time there was a club meeting, they would always try to attract you with free food. Taiwanese club: bubble tea! Hiking club: trail mix! However, 99.9% of the time, the free food of choice was pizza. Everyone likes pizza right? According to the FDA, it cover vegetable, starch, and protein criteria. It's deliciously saucy and cheesy. And of course New York Pizza is the BEST PIZZA EVER. What's not to love? The problem with the pizza they would order at college was it dribbled in grease. The cheese was stringy and the sauce was dried out. From then on, I was never too enamoured with the pizza in New York. I'm so happy we can kind of understand each other.
